Resources • University of Western Ontario

The Faculty of Engineering at The University of Western Ontario is just over 55 years old. Since opening the doors in 1954, our Faculty has grown to approximately 66 staff and 92 faculty members. We call four buildings on Western’s campus home - the Spencer Engineering Building, the Thompson Engineering, the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory and the LEED-certified Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Pavilion – in addition to research facilities across the City of London, including the Institute for Chemicals and Fuels from Alternative Resources (ICFAR), the Insurance Research Lab for Better Homes (home to the Three Little Pigs Project), and the Wind Engineering, Energy and Environment Dome (WindEEE – to be constructed 2012).

Approximately 1,200 undergraduate students are enrolled in one of our undergraduate programs and close to 540 graduate students are completing degrees at the Master’s or Doctoral levels.

Undergraduate students studying at Western Engineering have opportunities to explore options not available at other schools, such as our Dual Degree Programs with prestigious professional schools on campus such as the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western Law, as well as with programs in the other Faculties at Western. In addition, we offer an innovative Accelerated Master’s Program, co-op and internships, and numerous leadership opportunities.
